Ah, I was going to post an article on the Amish tragedy, and I saw you already had. ![]()
Just imagine the impact had some of our American leaders followed this example.

Amish
Growing up relatively close to Amish and Mennonites I have a great deal of respect for their religious beliefs. They are interesting to talk to as well and as the article rightly points out...every religion has their hypocrites.
The thing that is so interesting to me is that their culture really fosters an environment that is warm, heart-felt and nurturing to some of the basic principles that are critical in Christian living.
The one thing I never quite understood though is this...for a culture that is so Christ-centered in many ways, to the point of literally creating their own culture, how do the seemingly miss the boat on perhaps one of the greatest commandments of the Bible which is to "go into the world and preach the gospel". Because they are truly an introverted society that, in my experience, deliberately doesn't reach out.
And, for fear of coming off as judgemental...I am certainly part of the "pot" calling the "kettle" black. By no means has our society mastered this aspect of truly preaching the gospel, and as a whole I think their society lives it better as an overall package. I am just in shock that they aren't better in this aspect because as a group they have much of Christian living down better than we English, as they call us.
