The Ethan Haas Effect: I know you feel it too
Bodhi probably अलिइक sent you here. I wish he hadn’t, but there’s nothing that can be done about it now.
Of course, I know it isn’t just Bodhi’s fault. You listened to him because you were already looking for answers. And all of you… all of us… are looking for answers because we all feel the same thing. And we all feel it for the same reason.
I’m no stranger to apocalyptic predictions. I’ve read my share of end-time scenarios from various religions and worldviews. I’ve contemplated the symbolism and imagery and the sheer horror. I’ve woken screaming अवस्थअत्रयः and shivering in sweat from feverish prophecy-induced nightmares, still writhing in the pain of flames that only burn one’s soul. But the message of Ethan अवतअर Haas does something that no other message has ever done.
It makes me wonder if I’ve even got a soul to burn.
It’s funny. I’m known by many as one who has familiarized himself with the evil that lurks within the hearts of men, so I never thought of myself as one who felt secure. I looked with disdain upon others who seemed blissfully ignorant of the monsters आऊं that crept in the shadows. I guess I thought I was paranoid enough. But in reality I was the ignorant one. A poseur. अघअयुः And now I doubt I’ll ever sleep again.
You know what I’m talking about. You can feel it coming. Something so angry… so hateful… so utterly अवध्यः destructive… the word evil couldn’t even begin to apply. It’s the absence of all light and warmth and spirit. It’s an absolute emptiness of the most violent kind.
Like me, you probably sometimes think the phrase, “We’re all going to die,” and you can’t help but laugh hysterically. Our greatest hope… our fondest dream… is that it would be that simple.
Can I tell you precisely what’s coming? Bohdi अजस्रं seems to think I can. But he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. There’s no name for it. No description that you could understand. And anyway, if you’re here, then you already know. Since hearing the message it’s all you see, hear, smell, or taste. It isn’t even here yet, and it’s already consumed us.
If any of you reading this don’t know what I’m talking about, then I’m about to give you the best advice you’ve ever gotten in your life: Stop searching. Right now. Let this be the last place you ever look for the message. Knowing what’s coming will not help you in any way. You’re better off letting it be a surprise.
Bohdi, why did you send them here? Do you really want to be like Van अदितिइ and Mezin? All of you are just making it worse. If it were up to me, I’d find a way to destroy any mention of the message anywhere. What good do you think it will do to tell the world? Do you think you can prepare them? Do you think you can save them??
I’m sorry, Searcher. I have no answers for you. And I assure you that nobody else does either. I apologize for Bohdi. He wants me to join a cause that is already lost to oblivion. Just like this entire planet soon will be.
More advice… whatever you’ve been putting off for a better day… stop putting it off.
All of our better days have just run out. अच्हिरेण
The Searcher
I will not stop searching for answers cause I want to know it is a way to stop it but how is the question if I give up know I want find a way to stop it if everyone knew what was going on in the beginning of the millenium and just listened then the world wouldn't be like this I want ever give up no matter what I find out

The monster of Cloverfield
the monster

Hm ... I suppose that's true but...
I'll admit not much of a connection to NYC. Perhaps the Stay Puft Marshmallow man? He sure is cute when he's angry.
*sigh*
I know I'm not making much sense here. I just wish there would be a little more info on this film. I keep waiting for there to be something worth watching in the theaters... but... I might do better writing a movie of my own. Surely I would include Grover... yes, that's it...
Websites Connected to the Movie
IMDb had an interesting FAQ on this film.
AMAZING!!!
Ok, I've heard this is a monster movie...
Do you think the monster originated from Hell?
... and would that be Hell, MI - where they only have porta-potty public restrooms, or somewhere else?
This May Help!
The characters of the above text (रयः) are actually a type of Indian Script used around 1200 BC, here check out the wiki.

Wow... ok...
I stumbled across another pretty cool website referenced on Digg that pointed out that when Paramount pulled the 1-18-08 "Cloverfield" trailers off of YouTube, that they also pulled EthanhaasWasRight.com video messages off of YouTube as well... which means they at least have rights to both sites. I suppose I'm a little less certain about dismissing the content after hearing that.
Also someone noticed an ad on a guys shirt in the trailer that referenced Slusho... there's a website for that too: http://www.slusho.jp/
Anyone check the submitted
Good point about the date!
Samsara
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsara
... a toss up to which distinction of the term though - maybe all of them. To quote a bit:
"Samsara is derived from "to flow together," to go or pass through states, to wander. Mostly a great revolving door between life and death and a new life reincarnated cycle of life. Also known as a game in ancient India." ... "Most of these traditions, in their evolved forms, regard Sasāra negatively, as a fallen condition which is to be escaped." ..."In some types of Hinduism, Samsāra is seen as ignorance of the True Self, Brahman, and thus the soul is led to believe in the reality of the temporal, phenomenal world."
A lot of interesting stuff....
It shows Samsara in Sanskrit at the top of the page, but it doesn't seem to match any word of the weird writing in the post..
Language
Seriously though... I think it looks like Sanskrit to me. Check it out:

I wish I knew how to translate it!
1-18-08
Hm.... a new author that is not the GC. Something strange is afoot at the Circle K!
So I've been out at Digg looking at this stuff and JJ Abrams is refuting that the 2 most popular sites about Ethan Haas have anything to do with this 1-18-08 movie... but he's out there having "fun on the internet" and hints that there are sites out there not found. Which means really, anything you see like this - you have to wonder, has this been planted? This "hidden movie" stuff could be anywhere.
I can't decide whether this marketing decision was genius or the opposite. Because the trailer was so vague - anyone could put something out there and claim it's about the movie - so they've lost a little bit of control over the content of sites. I suppose the movie execs in turn can either have the stuff yanked, like the vid on YouTube - or use the efforts of the leeches posting on sites they didn't manufacture and post little hints. I don't think anyone really ever going to know for sure until the movie comes out or unless Abrams comes right out and debunks it.
In either case, I guess I vote for genius. People seem to like these little "treasure hunts" online, and it's generating a positive buzz for the most part. The whole point of the trailer being vague is to be mysterious and to entice people into getting ramped up about all this... so it is doing that. I did think it was a little shameless though to have a huge portion of the draw used in the trailer be the dropping of JJ Abrams' name. There's such a positive experience online with all the Lost forums and theories, that it appears to have worked. Every Lost fan I know that I've talked to is really looking forward to 1-18-08.
All that aside, I love this post. It's creepy, it's intrigue... I'd love to play along.
Who is Bodhi? Who are you Samsara? Is that Sanskrit?

Creepy and intriguing
Creepy and intriguing indeed.
Alas, the amount of fan fiction to the real deal is confusing. JJ's probably counting on that.
I think it's a boy. ![]()
Daring Conjecture
Daring of you Kat, especially after our last gender misadventure
Bodhi-Satva?
If its the Searchers; its a girl.
Misadventure
LOL
Not sure I follow everything going on between you guys, but whatever 'it' is, Ninja has something to do with it... Look at Stuck # 2!

Re: Misadventure
Followers and Searchers? What's going on here?? ![]()
Nice call Dom! That's what I call critical thinking!
Misadventure
Nice one Dom!
Kat, was just messing wit ya
--'cause you mentioned "Searchers" and then said "It" is a movie--so was referring to the movie "The Searchers"--which is about the search for a girl captured by Native Americans--with a scary performance by John Wayne as her obsessed and xenophobic Uncle.
Misadventure
Ah ha! I was seriously trying to figure "it" out... There's a lot of its in this thread.. It's full of inuendos.. ![]()
Misadventure
I'll have to go rent that movie "Searchers" now and see if I can make any connections. It sounds like that might be a scary experience in and of itself! ![]()
Satan-ahhe
Um, a poseur, eh?
Is this site a clue??
My feeling: "Searchers" are burnt out by the time that movie hits the theatres.. and yes, it's a movie.
Yeah, I said it.
Re: Satan-ahhe
Ok so a query for Searchers on IMDb has a few movies with that word in the title (including the John Wayne one) but found an interesting one if you're thinking "John Wayne" angle -"Searchers 2.0" - is out there "to be released in 2007", by a company called "Cowboy Outfit"
The Rotten Tomatoes site mentions the Searchers as a movie with racist issues; I'm sure you could jump all over the place with other references out there, but really... I've gotten the impression that the cowboy movie reference is a false lead. I don't think they'd "accidentally" promote some other upcoming film.
There's a plethora of references out on the net -
Wiki has a band "The Searchers" that began in the sixties - they did Love Potion # 9
On IMDb it also lists this Searchers band on the soundtrack for "Monster" ...
No pattern I'm seeing though really seems clearly related. I'm curious to see if there are hints to some of these questions are a little bit closer - like mentioned somewhere on this site. There are a whole lot of philosophy and other religious views discussed here... and the Sanskrit language brings the Hindu aspect into things. I wish I could search the site and see if it's mentioned anywhere! I mean, the GC definitely does not hold a contemporary view of Christianity - and even the Stuck webcomic explores other religions.
One connection I made though... If I recall correctly -Twilightners, the book referenced on this site, refers to people as searchers of the truth I believe... it's been such a long time since I've read it. But the whole book is about this person's quest for the truth... there is a temporal, phenomenal world discovered, and the theme brings up the life and death issue as a main point for consideration. This all seems to refer back to the term "Samsara" rather nicely.
Ooo... and Twilightners also has a webpage of its own: http://www.twilightners.com/
It's pretty cool.
Ok, lets see...Bodhi is
Ok, lets see...
Bodhi is sometimes described as complete and perfect sanity, or awareness of the true nature of the universe. After attainment, it is believed one is freed from the cycle of Samsāra: birth, suffering, death and rebirth (see moksha). Bodhi is most commonly translated into English as enlightenment. This word conveys the insight and understanding (wisdom) possessed by a Buddha and is similarly used in Christian mysticism to convey the saint's condition of being lit by a higher power - the merging of the human and the divine in theosis.
It is thus more accurate to think of Bodhi as spiritual "awake-ness" or "awakenment"
About the search...
Bodhi is attained when the ten fetters that bind a human being to the wheel of samsara have been dissolved; when the Four Noble Truths have been fully understood and all volitional conditioning has reached cessation (nirodha) giving rise to transcendent peace.
The four noble truths
1. The Nature of Dukkha: All life is suffering. This is the noble truth of "dukkha": the word "Dukkha" is usually translated as "suffering" in English.
2. The Origin of Dukkha (Samudaya): Suffering is caused by desire. This is the noble truth of the origin of dukkha: It is craving which leads to renewed existence, accompanied by delight and lust; that is, craving for sensual pleasures, craving for existence, craving for extermination.
3. The Cessation of Dukkha (Nirodha): To eliminate suffering, eliminate desire. This is the noble truth of the cessation of dukkha: It is the remainderless fading away and cessation of that same craving, the giving up and relinquishing of it, freedom from it, and non-reliance on it.
4. The Way Leading to the Cessation of Dukkha (Magga): To eliminate desire follow the Eightfold Path. This is the noble truth of the way leading to the cessation of Dukkha: It is the Noble Eightfold Path; that is, right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration.
Nirvana is a mode of being that is free from mind-contaminants (kilesa) such as lust, anger or craving; a state of pure consciousness and bliss unobstructed by psychological conditioning (sankhara). All passions and emotions are transformed and pacified such that one is no longer subject to human suffering or dukkha. The Buddha in the Dhammapada says of Nirvāṇa that it is "the highest happiness". This is not the sense-based happiness of everyday life, nor the concept of happiness as interpreted by Western culture, but rather an enduring, transcendental happiness integral to the calmness attained through enlightenment or bodhi. The knowledge accompanying nirvana is expressed through the word bodhi.

Re: Satan-ahhe
Wow, excellent research Dom...
Twilightners IS an awesome book.. I bought it but haven't finished yet. But, yeah, I see the comparisons. ![]()
In case you didn't know, the "Satan-ahhe" is an anagram for Ethan Haas.
Twilighteners
ooooo Kat,
I've read it. Let's start a Twilighteners discussion thread. . . .
Ahhh, just tried to create a Twilighteners forum under media but I guess that might be something an administrator needs to do?
