Rogue

The Rogue is a somewhat "transcendent" archetype, something many people attempt to be but seldom are. The Rogue also always knows the right thing to do, but "the right thing" is defined as "whatever is in the ultimate best-interest of the Rogue", with "best-interest" usually defined in terms of carnal or otherwise selfish desires. The Rogue with full consciousness and clear conscience rejects the Sage’s lifestyle. The Rogue is the very definition of predictability in terms of motivation, but makes up for this by being very creative in the realm of deceit. Rogues regard deceit as the pinnacle of human accomplishment and they distain those who have not mastered it, while they admire those who have mastered it even against themselves. Like the Sage, the Rogue is intelligent, rational, and fearless. The Rogue acknowledges the immutable connections between human beings, but sees their only value as avenues of manipulation. The Rogue is prone to excessive ritual in order to feel "in control" and/or keep track of various webs of deceit. While disliking dependence upon others, a Rogue can be fiercely loyal to relationships that are perceived to be foundational to securing power. While the acquaintance of a Rogue may never know the full truth, he or she will always know how he or she is perceived by the Rogue (that is, as expendable).

Since this archetype is less "invoked" than it is "strived for", there aren't really any drawbacks of note, although those who seriously aspire to become Rogues are often not seen in a positive light by the rest of society.
