My trip to the Christian book store

So, I am posting this here, since technically I guess it is a forgiveness topic...

I am on my way to the store and see a bumper sticker which reads: Drive like hell, you'll get there.

Irony, fate or purely randomness...I follow the guy with the sticker as he parks at the Christian book store. I go in buy my stuff and don't think anything much about it.

Headed back I come up to a long line of cars at a red light. Someone in the opposite lane is waiting to turn left across my lane to an adjacent parking lot. So, rather than block them off as I very rightly could I stop, allow the guy and his wife room, and motion him to go ahead.

Interestingly enough the guy gives me the bird. Not just a subtle bird, a full fledged F-U looking bird that I could not miss.

Normally, road rage is a bit of a downfall for me. And this is something I clearly need God's intervention on, but for some off reason I laughed it off. Not even hesitating a moment and thinking about it...a totally odd, unnatural reaction for me. Literally the first thing I did when it registered was smile.

I can't explain it...I think it had nothing to do with the bumper sticker or the fact that I just left the sanctuary of the Christian book store (reminded me of the Christian City for some reason...every time I go there I think I am going to have that thought, lol). It obviously had nothing to do with my normal knee-jerk reactions to those type of situations where I quickly judge someones driving in my head as being worthy of some random bad thought I have about them.

Whatever the cause...moments like that are refreshing. Not just doing the right thing, but actually having the sense that it can happen without thought.
