Priest
This archetype represents the person who is wholly focused on the supernatural, be it the afterlife, the divine/divinities, holy writings, paranormal phenomena, etc. Luck, fame, and wealth qualify as supernatural forces here, as a Priest can also be one who is obsessed with gambling, get-rich-quick schemes, sports teams/stars, and other people who are rich or famous. Priests often believe that it is erroneous for human beings to allow themselves to be caught up in the trappings of ordinary life. Rather, human beings should understand that the greatest truths lie deep within the mystical core of reality and experience. To the Priest, the path to this core is a complete devotion to a particular school of faith, even if that faith is placed in Fate and Fortune.
The downside to this archetype is that it tends to become dogmatic, even to the point of insisting that its particular preferred faith is the only valid one for all people at all times. While the Priest can be extremely helpful and uplifting, the archetype can also be intolerant, condemning, and hateful. Plus, the baser form of the Priest that is focused on celebrity and riches is prone to ruthlessness and the literal worship of other people who seem to have secured popularity and material abundance.
If you are dissatisfied with the dominance of this archetype in your life, perhaps it is time to recall what miracles exist in everyday existence. Enjoy nature, friends, family, and the many other things that give profound value to the here-and-now. Also, investigate the lifestyle of someone who is very different from you, with utterly different beliefs and behaviors compared to yours, and begin to appreciate the beauty of an alternative way of life. Reflect upon what is ultimately important to you personally and you may find that for some time now you have been allowing yourself to be lead by someone else’s agenda and not your own.
