Aaron: Serpent of Evil or Serpent of Wisdom

Scorpio is the most powerful sign in the zodiac.

— Agent_XXX

It’s been mentioned on the show that Claire was interested in astrology and horoscopes. She is quoted as saying “You know, everyone thinks astrology’s just a load of crap but that’s just because they don’t get it.” Locke remarks to Claire that it’s a good sign that her baby’s birthday is close to her own birthday.

This theory is elucidating the possibility that perhaps Claire and Aaron’s charts have something important to do with the show. As best I can, I’ve done their charts - and it’s interesting to see some of the coincidences and connections.

Aaron and Claire are both Scorpios. Scorpio is the most powerful sign in the zodiac. Both Aaron and Claire’s charts indicate that strong family ties seem to be key in the positive intertwing of their two fates.

During Locke’s vision, Locke points at them and Boone tells Locke - Charlie, Claire and Aaron are “fine, for awhile”, and appear to be a family in the vision. (“Further Instructions”) Claire’s chart seems to point to the fact that losing Charlie would be a detriment to her finding her own way.

The psychic she visited insisted that Claire had to raise the child herself as “danger surrounded this baby!” Her chart shows she has psychic and healing tendencies. Aaron’s chart shows that he needs his mother’s support early on in his childhood. Aaron needs his mother’s ability to be objective in order to soothe his fearful tendencies, and also her inspiration and nurturing.

Charlie also warns Claire that the baby was in danger, but that the danger is connection to religion somehow. Mr. Eko points out the religious significance of the name Aaron when he informed Claire that Aaron was the name of Moses’ elder brother. Charlie’s vision where he determines Aaron should be baptized is shown in iconic Christian symbology.

In fact Claire’s chart indicates a paranormal collision of science and religion. Aaron’s chart, indeed shows that he is to be an inspiration - and the “Golden Mean”. Realization of his true nature will herald a great transformation - the merging of science and religion. Somehow this purpose will be intrinsically tied to ancient civilizations. It will be done through the liberation of a great many people from their fears.

More interesting information can be found in their charts below:

Of what is known of Aaron’s birth date and time - this is what can be ascertained by his start chart.

Aaron Born 2 Nov 2004 -

Sun in Scorpio.

Traits ascribed to those whose Sun in Scorpio - They are lost for direction - to overcome this they must make their ultimate adventure getting lost in order to discover where, who and what they are. Constantly shifting objectives make those in this sign emotionally frightful, but when they let go and let someone in an “alchemal release” occurs and the sting becomes a healing lance. They bring trouble to the surface like no other sign. In discovering that they have so much power, they need to consider how they will use it… and consider if someone is out to disempower them. Those choices will determine if they will become a Serpent of Evil or a Serpent of Wisdom - or “the Eagle” in their pursuits.

Strengths of those in this sign include that they are powerful. They like being persuasive, they can be faith inspiring. They have a healing touch. Their greatest weakness is denying weakness, their greatest strength is in forgiving weakness. The Sun works in conjunct with Mercury to strengthen these traits.

Underlying the individual effects of the planetary alignment - are the accumulation of the Element types

Elements:  His chart is: Under-emphasized in the element of fire Which means a lack of life energy - he will be inclined to rely on other people to inspire him. To counter this on his own he will need to build up his traits in the Sun and Mars planets of his chart.

Balanced in the element of Air Which means that he will have an innate sense of interrelations. He will be a good communicator.

Over-emphasized in the element of water … to a most extreme level. This indicates an intense need for a relationship, home or family - the threat of such security taken away should be taken very seriously. He will be impressionable, and easily influenced. His strong imagination can leave him “out to sea”.

Under-emphasized in the element of earth Meaning that he is not “grounded”. He is without a firm and definite course. He will need to rely on the positive traits of Saturn to fix this. Indeed, his purpose on earth is determined by his chart here.

Moon in Cancer:  This planet is in dignity - which means that he excels in expressing this trait. He finds security though nurturing and he likes a secure home and home life. Beware though - that his emotional attunement determined by this sign can be negatively shown in manipulation should things go awry. His intense need for a secure home and family can lead to agoraphobia. Conjunct - or working with this planet to make a stronger emphasis on this trait is the planet of Saturn, which is also in Cancer.

Mercury in Scorpio:  Conjunct with the Sun, and with the strength of the sign of Scorpio - deems this alignment as “X-Ray Eyes” indicating his ability to “see through” people and situations. It is indicative of a real mental power and superiority. What he wants and what he fears are heavily entwined. His paranoia makes him suspect malice of intent. Mercury works in conjunct with the Sun to strengthen these traits.

Venus in Libra: This planet is in dignity as well, and so these traits easily expressed. He is the “Social Touchstone”… indicating that he is in touch with what mythology calls the “Golden Mean” or perfect balance. Others will measure themselves against him. His inner sense of harmony is dependant upon feelings of security. He will be afraid of conflict. This will be pronounced in his character and in conjunction with the traits of Mars and Jupiter.

Mars in Libra:  Though this planet is part of his means to overcome the lack of fire in his elements, it is in detriment, meaning these traits are at conflict with one another and will thus be difficult to express or overcome. Key is to balance his impulses. He will struggle with his need for independence and his social conscious. Anger and resentment can build out of this conflict if a balance is not struck. This will be pronounced in his character and in conjunction with the traits of Venus and Jupiter.

Jupiter in Libra:  Is the alignment of “The Peacemaker”. Ethical and religious influences in his life will have direct bearing on the success of his personal relationships. He will need to balance his needs and desires with his beliefs in values. An imbalance will be so strong as to bring an upheaval extreme enough to involve litigation. This will be pronounced in his character and in conjunction with the traits of Mars and Venus.

Saturn in Cancer:  He will be tested in nurturing to the tune of the motto “I Rise Above Myself”. This planet is also in detriment. His purpose on earth is tied to a strong paternal or maternal support early in life. Without it, it will lead to the withdrawal of his feelings. His emotional values give him a sense of belonging. He needs to express his nurturing side. He will either be sincere and selfless, or paranoid and emotionally crippled. This alignment works in conjunction and is strengthened by the traits under the Moon.

The outer planets indicate the extra-ordinary, and paranormal.

Uranus in Pisces:  Awakening through accepting… he must awaken to the mysteries of life and the unconscious and has a need to look at the mystical side of life or he will feel culturally uninclined to face the music.

Neptune in Aquarius:  Unifying through Liberating. Those who see light will be because they prepared for it, those who don’t prepare, will not see it. Aaron must obtain a critical mass of individuals that reach liberation from fear in order to turn the tides.

Pluto in Sagittarius:  Empowering through seeking. We will discover what is determining our destiny. Realization of Aaron’s true nature will bring about the coming together of all valid religions. It indicates transformation - and the combination of science and mysticism. What was once seen only as mystical will be linked to scientific fact. This all will be tied significantly to ancient civilizations.

Claire Born 27 Oct 1982 in Sydney Looking at her Moon sign and comparing personality traits I estimated she was born after 7:12pm in order to find her ascendant planet and obtain further information.

Sun in Scorpio:  Living through desiring, or the “urge to merge”. The house of this planet indicates that she will manifest this through children or romance. She thrives in crisis… though she is independent she can be self sacrificing; she is strong and deep. She is frank and open, but can be harsh. She sometimes will miss the point and become frustrated by her own inappropriate convictions. She needs a large ideal to suit her power, be it artistic or religious - (her son’s purpose on earth appears large enough to me). She is lost in her direction as well and can bite off more than she can chew. This will be pronounced in her character and works in conjunct with the traits of Venus and Jupiter.

Rising/ascendant sign is Cancer Expressing through nurturing. She identifies herself through responding to the needs of herself and others.

Elements: Balanced in Fire Though action is a way of achieving goals, it is hard to take initiative. She is direct and can use her fire to inspire Aaron and support him in a way that he needs due to the lack of this element in his own chart.

Balanced in Air Complementing Fire, is that she is a good communicator and can fit into many walks of life. She is impartial and has an objective perspective. This I think is needed to help Aaron with his paranoia.

Over-emphasized in Water Like Aaron she needs strong family ties and threat to this security should be taken seriously.

Under-emphasized in Earth She is not grounded, this weakness can cause her to live in a dream world. She needs to learn how to “be here now”.

Moon in Pisces:  (estimated) This indicates security through accepting. This manifests itself through psychic abilities, religiosity and prophetically. This is the most acute emotional sensitivity. This indicates a healer, a poet, a mystic. She needs a vision for a better life or she will be lost to fantasy. She will be a healer or a victim; selfless or weak willed and easily exploited. This however is her least emphasized trait.

Mercury in Libra:  Manifested through her father’s or sometimes a mother’s influence/character and manifested domestically. It’s hard for her to know how she actually feels on any given issue. She desires agreement, but needs to learn to agree to differ. She sometimes bores herself and thus bores others. This will be pronounced and works in conjunct with the traits of Saturn and Pluto.

Venus in Scorpio:  Speaks of the strength of The Power of Love. This planet is in detriment … she must find harmony through conflict. She is seeking security and is faithful - though this can border on possessive. This will be manifested through her children or romantic relationships. Losing Charlie might shake her faith in Love. This will be pronounced in her character and works in conjunct with the traits of the Sun and Jupiter.

Mars in Sagittarius:  Defender of the Faith. Manifested through methods used to channel her raw untamed energy. She needs to focus herself on a large goal - that of Aaron’s destiny. This is pronounced and in conjunction with the traits of Uranus, and Neptune.

Jupiter in Scorpio:  Growing through desiring as manifested through her children and romantic relationships. This heavily speaks of the occult and mysterious. She will find deep joy through deep sorrow. She will meet fateful challenges and help others through deep and dark places.

Saturn in Libra:  This planet is exalted, it will be easy for her to see that her Duty is to Love - she will be tested in relating. She needs to learn to love through balance. This is the key to overcoming her lack of earth element causing her to be ungrounded. This is where she will establish what her purpose on earth is - and it will be manifested domestically. This will be pronounced and works in conjunct with Mercury and Pluto.

The outer planets indicate the extra-ordinary, and paranormal.

Uranus in Sagittarius:  Awakening through seeking, it signifies the colliding or merging of science and religion. It will be manifested through her work, body or state of mind. It signifies reform of religion. The freedom to believe what she wants is what fires her though she may not know it yet. This is pronounced and in conjunction with the traits of Mars, and Neptune.

Neptune in Sagittarius:  Unifying through seeking, as manifested through her colleagues and through service. There is a want of distinction between the Law of Man and the Law of God. This indicates a beginning of the merging of world religions and a move toward more spiritual and less material. This is pronounced and in conjunction with the traits of Mars and Uranus.

Pluto in Libra:  Empowering through relating. This alignment is marked by revolutionary changes in marriage and social values - the single parent is the hallmark result of this. This is manifested in her background and roots.

So awesome

I love this! You were and are so on the right track with this. When are you gonna do Jack's chart?! Tongue out

Jack's chart

Oh yeah... he is part of the family now.

I'll get on that. Smile  Jack and Christian both.

The crux of the matter - Claire and Aaron

Family ties are key to a positive intertwing of Claire and Aaron's fates.
Now that Claire's dad has come back to visit her from the dead on the island - I think Claire's story will become more significant.
She was alienated from her father before his death, but now seems to connect with him now that she's had his grandchild.  Why did her position on this change?
Why does it look like she knows something that we don't know when she's in the cabin with her dad?
...and why does she look so happy and comfortable after abandoning Aaron in that tree when she left???

Because her chart says she's a psychic - duh. Tongue out  heheheh

...but seriously

Claire's chart signifies the collision of science and religion - with her at the center of the apocalypse... because let's face it - this is a war.
First she was in Jack's camp (science) - now she is in Jacob's (religion/faith).
Aaron is suggestively a key to winning this "holy war" of a sorts.

Claire identifies herself through responding to the needs of herself and others.
Her focus needs to be that of Aaron's destiny...  her crisis involves a conflict in the area of the "power of love" in both her romances and in her family life.  Her chart indicates that she thrives in crisis situations.  She has a duty to love, a need to love through balance.  Her son being symbolic of "the perfect balance".

What purpose does it serve to have Aaron leave the island with Kate?
Could it be Kate's connection to Jack - a direct relative of Aaron's - that would allow Aaron to be "safe" in his (I speculate temporary) absence from his mother?

If we acknowledge that Aaron is the powerful influence and "Golden Mean" or balance...
It intrigues me to think that Aaron was sent on a mission of sorts - even this young - to help heal Jack, bring balance to his life.  Kate seems to be a positive influence in Jack's life - and I think her love is meant to bring him to accept the miracles and love in his life through faith and trust in others instead of scientific methodologies that he relies upon now. Live together, die alone.  Aaron, a powerful influencer, through his impact on Kate -  allows Jack to learn and accept fate and find "the power of love" in his life.

Claire & Aaron

Another great post to see again--thanks for putting it up Agent.

One question I had about Claire's being reunited with her Dad--you said in the chart reading that if Claire lost Charlie she might have difficulty finding her way. So do you think being with Christian is a sign of finding her way or losing it?

(A contrast I noticed about the return of the O6--that episode seemed to feature the return of Mothers--Jack's Mom & Claire's Mom (and later Kate will have the scene with her Mom at the trial)--but either absence of Dad's--Christian's body not at the wake, or running away from Dad--Hurley.)

You spoke of Aaron's fate determining whether he will have the serpent's sting or the healing lance. That reminded me of the dolorous lance in The Fisher King. Also thinking of Ben's whackin' stick--and was wondering whether that might have some connection to Aaron's Rod (see comment "Don't Spare the Rod).

Aaron--not grounded. Desmond's function in building the lightning rod is to provide grounding? His name=man of the world; can that also be man of earth?

I like that idea of what Aaron may be providing Jack. I think he will be Jack's ways back to the island as well.

Claire and her parents

Claire's chart alone doesn't favor mother over father or vice versa...  Her Mercury is in Libra is manifested through her paternal or maternal ties (supported and made stronger by Saturn -  and Pluto).  That leaves a lot of latitude.

There are a lot of interesting things going on.
First the thing Kat mentioned earlier about her father wanting Claire to pull the plug on her mother.  Was this a BAD thing?  He was giving that advice out of concern and love if you take it at face value.  But it is this advice that alienates Claire when she first meets him.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say judging by Claire's demeanor - meeting her father on the island and getting along with him seems symbolic of her finding herself and finding her purpose on earth.  Speaking with ghosts allows her to exert her own "psychic power" in a way she's never or would be ever taken seriously for off of the island.

If we start from there - It should be asked:
What if the loving thing would have been to pull the plug on Claire's mother?

She probably would have died.  Which means she wouldn't be around in the FF where she reveals to Jack that Claire is his sister.  Ask yourself - if she knew that "Kate's" child was really her grandson - would she let Aaron go back to the island?

If Aaron's return to the island to Claire is crucial to the balance of things and must be raised by Claire as the psychic told her (or powerful bad things would happen)... then grandma seeking custody would seem to me to be a very bad thing.

Re:Claire and her parents

Agent what you're saying then is that Christian knew that Claire's Mom would eventually attempt to keep Aaron from returning to the island and his conversation was an attempt to prevent that. But why not stop Kate and Jack from taking him off the island in the first place? OR have smokie kill Naomi before Desmond, Charlie etc. find her and the satellite phone? Or destroy the chopper which prevents any more of the freighter folks from coming onto the island? There are a lot of ways to prevent Aaron from leaving the island in the first place - why attempt to have Claire pull the plug on her Mother?

The only reason I can think of is that Aaron NEEDS to leave the island and Claire for a while. This would explain why Claire is ok with simply leaving him in the jungle the day before rescue is possible while she hides out with Christian in the cabin. This would also explain (in part) Ben's role in helping the freighter gain access to the island in the first place.  What I don't understand yet is Alex's statement that the Others planned to kill Claire once they performed the C-section to take Aaron from her during the kidnapping. If Claire is really supposed to be the main influence on Aaron and he is an important key to the island's future (and the Others and Ben are really working for the good of the island) then they should be protecting her, not planning to harm her.  Unless Ben is really NOT working for the good of the island and his efforts to bring the freighter people to the island is not part of Aaron's journey. Man this show throws a lot of curve balls around!! After 4 years I still have very little clue about what's happening on that damned island!! At least with Gilligan I always knew they'd end up back in their hammock talking about how Mary Ann was going to make a coconut cream pie the next day.  Ahh simpler times......

pulling the plug

Actually, I do not think that Christian knew the future when he suggested to Claire that she pull the plug on her mother.   I think what mattered was his motivation - whether or not it added up to the greater good in the end.

If it was a selfish and manipulative act - then it'd amount to something "bad" later... or a challenge to overcome.    Since Claire and Aaron are in the middle of the "power of love" story with their star charts - that would amount to something bad for the both of them.  What Claire needed to face when she should have made that choice then is presented to her as a new challenge down the road... and will continue to be presented to her until either she overcomes the obstacle or is defeated.

If Christian's suggestion was given out of the love and care he had for Claire and her mother - and Claire had overcome her emotional issued tied to that and made a loving choice to take his advice - I think the show is suggesting it'd amount to something "good" later for Claire and Aaron.

Aaron Leaving & Claire's S1 Kidnapping

Jukin, I agree, there's a reason Aaron needs to leave the island. I think it's that at this point in the game, the side Christian represents knows that they can not prevent the O6 from leaving and that Aaron is their way back. And I think the game metaphor is useful in answering the question of why they don't just keep Kate and Jack from leaving. Neither side can absolutely determine what happens--they make a move and then there's a counter move.

I had a theory about Claire's kidnapping that I posted on LT--I'll c&p a modified version here. But I think, especialy with Ben, we've got to think that he plays his own people as much as he plays his opponents.

So if Ben knows Aaron is special perhaps he both needs him but fears and wants to control his special abilities (rather than be replaced by him). Then perhaps this is what describes what Ben is up to in the kidnapping: he arranges with Ethan to take Claire. Only Ben and Ethan know about this—Tom questions Ethan about what he is doing and thinks that Ethan screwed up (he should have just been compiling a list). Ethan believes he is doing something to save the baby and possibly Claire as well. In fact what Ben is having Ethan do to Claire is 1) give her something which will lead to the fake illness in Season 3 and to Juliet’s successful infiltration of the camp, and 2) possibly do something to Aaron in utero which will put his ability under Ben’s control. Ben then lets Alex overhear a plan for forcibly removing Aaron from Claire’s body and possibly killing Claire. (There is no such plot.) This leads to Alex helping Claire escape (for Ben’s plans to work Claire has to be back at the Lostie camp). Ethan goes to get her back and is killed (I think this is part of Ben’s plan too: Ethan’s death covers Ben’s tracks.

Benipulated kidnapping...

Ben and Ethan were in cahoots on the kidnapping and it was not in line with what the rest of the "others" at least Tom - thought should happen.

I generally ascribe Claire's kidnapping to Ben's obsession with pregnant women in general.  Suggesting that he knew Aaron was "special" is an interesting angle and not out of line with the fact that Ben has this propensity to know future events.  Why wouldn't he know this if he sees the future?

(I forget the whole significance of the implant theory... other than it only served to allow Juliet to infiltrate their camp.)

So the Benipulation relating to Claire possibly being killed is interesting.  I only vaguely remember the whole thing with Alex overhearing the conversation.  What I remember more is that Ethan speaks to Claire as if she was going to die and the entire time that she's there attempts to put her at ease with this fact and with giving up Aaron to the others to raise.  I would think if this was part of "the act" he'd be saying things that might give Claire a notion to run away, not stay.  That's what I can't seem to fit... unless Ethan was fooled by Ben the entire time.

If that's the case then Ethan must have believed then that Claire would die like every other pregnant woman on the island in childbirth and been convinced that he was doing something to save Aaron.  The conversation with Ben about killing her that Alex overheard... again, I don't remember too well... but (and I'm stretching here) perhaps Ethan thought it the compassionate way to let Claire die if it was going to happen anyway.

I can completely see how Ethan going back and getting killed is part of Ben's plan and a way to cover his tracks.  Just that Ethan can be convinced by Ben to do something against the group - suggests that somehow he's convinced Ethan that Aaron is a special child to save "at any cost".

What did Ben gain from this kidnapping in regard to Aaron then?  Well... I don't know.  That's another stinker.   Why all this Benipulation up to killing Ethan unless something important came of it?  I'm still undecided on anything being "implanted" into Aaron... but I don't think Ben needs a medical mechanism to control people and so that idea that he did this to control Aaron just doesn't sit well with me.

What if he wasn't sure if Aaron was "the one" and the amnio test they took was to confirm something about the baby to Ben?  - that the kidnapping gave him the knowledge that Aaron was special and Ben needed to keep an eye on him?   I guess even though I think Ben does see the future - the death of his "daughter" proves to me that he's not "all knowing" or "all seeing"... it's equally plausible that he may not be able to tell if Aaron is "the one" just by a plane manifest and the investigation by the others.

Maybe part of Ben's obsession with pregnant women is that he knows a special child will be born on the island with some specific power he covets.

Further speculation on this...

... a little too long to be included here as a reply -

regarding Ben's quest for control.

Suppress not possess.

Agent I have long believed that the "vaccine" was actually intended to suppress powers in some of the special people on the island. Desmond never had a vision while he was taking the vaccine. Perhaps the implosion didn't create his abilities but merely raised them to a level that the "vaccine" could no longer suppress. If Aaron really is special then kidnapping Claire so they could suppress his abilities might have been the reason behind the kidnapping.

Suppressing Aaron

Hmmm... that works for me.    But along with suppressing Aaron it also allowed Ben a way to keep an eye on Aaron.  The injection with the vaccine happened after the kidnapping - when Juliet "saved the day".

I do think the amnio test in the lab when Claire was kidnapped was something different.

Tweaking with Aaron

Didn't Ethan also inject Aaron in utero?

Vaccine

Yeah he did Jukin--good thinking on the vaccine as suppression. And I guess my take on what Ethan thought was that he believed Claire was going to die like all the other pregnant women on the island.

Jaz did you ever work for Shell Oil?

I thought THEY were the answer man, but you seem to have worked out a lot of the answers - good job! I think you're right about Ben having manipulated his people - I forgot about Tom and Ethan's conversation. You know the more I think about this the more I'm convinced that Ben HAS to have been through this entire thing before. He's just too many steps ahead all the time. I have been bothered by his comment to Kate over breakfast when she was kidnapped. "The next two weeks are going to be very unpleasant."

The next TWO WEEKS - a definitive amount of time. Not the next few weeks, or even something more ambiguous like 'the future'. He made a statement with a specific time period which implied that things would improve after two weeks. I looked at the time line from Lostpedia. Kate was kidnapped on day 67 and Ben made the comment on day 68. Two weeks later the Others left the compound for their journey that would provide Locke with a chance to kill Cooper. Kate and Juliet were handcuffed together and left in the jungle. That was exactly 2 weeks after Kate arrived. Even though Kate escaped she returned to get Jack and was captured again. Everything seemed to be following Ben's plans. But when he made the statement to Kate, Juliet hadn't killed Pickett and was not an outcast at that point. So did Ben know what was going to transpire already? Had he experienced it all before or was it all staged in another manipulation of his people?

And what of the exodus from the compound? Why did the Others go on their camping trip and then on to the Temple so far in advance of the frieghter arriving? How the hell is Ben so many steps ahead of everyone else?

Steps ahead...

Yeah Jukin, I think you're absolutely right--Ben clearly can plan many steps ahead--there must be some limiting factor though because why wouldn't he be able to get everything right a second time round? That's why I like Prof's Synchronicity model--it would allow Ben to be predictive but not have absolute knowledge.

And thanks for the compliment about having some good answers :-) Not sure they are THE answers cause I'm always in revising mode, and they come out of conversation so it's more like they're our answers :-)

Ooh...

I think you just nailed it Agent. Christian was attempting to serve the greater good...

I like your take on Claire's "demeanor", that makes a lot of sense... good thing because I was really believing she was dead and I wasn't very happy about it.Smile

No worries Kat.....

Claire is NOT dead. How do I know? Well, why would a ghost need a band-aid on her forehead?

Long Live Claire

I meant to say something earlier on your last post - Juk.  That actually is a good catch and I concur...  Ghosts don't need no stinkin bandages!  Laughing

Mothers

Hey, you're right! I hadn't noticed the return of mothers and absence of fathers... it is definitely there. Hm, even more interesting that with Aaron it's almost a complete reversal...
