Science
Article in the paper today about young adults suggests far reaching difficulties in dealing with contemporary life issues. It might have been the conjunction of reading it with the essay on the soul mate myth, but I couldn't help making the connection with this statement: "And the biggest cause of despair? Even among college students, it's not academics, but love that hurts most. Emotional problems were more than twice as common among students who had recently had a major loss - typically a romantic breakup."

15% of teenagers believe they will die young
Scarily high number, and, as this article says, going against the conventional wisdom that teens believe themselves invulnerable and indulge in risky behaviors as a result.
"The study also provides evidence that some teens may have good reason for feeling hopeless. Native Americans, blacks and low-income teens - those who are disproportionately exposed to violence and hardship - were more likely than whites to believe that they would die young."
I'm wondering though why the numbers are so high generally and if this is a change from the past.
